Notes on transplant programs in Cuba for foreign patients
In Cuba, transplant programs are offered for foreign patients only from living donors when the patient has a donor.
The donor must be a first-degree relative by consanguinity (siblings, parents, children or cousins) or a legally proven spouse, who is compatible with the patient.
Along with the request, you must send a medical summary of the patient and the donor, the results of the compatibility study carried out in your country, although these must be repeated in Cuba.
You must send a letter of acceptance issued by the transplant program or association of your country or, failing that, from the corresponding ministry of health.
Programs Include:
Hospitalization of the patient in a private room, bedside medical care and daily visit pass, nursing care, preoperative and postoperative check-up, surgical procedure, intensive and intermediate care after the surgical procedure.
The programs do not include:
Expenses for complications that arise, medications, blood or derivatives that are not included within the proposed program. Internet and telephone expenses that the patient may need.
